Calling a grant recipient is never easy. Each person is going through their own battle. Even as survivors, you can only relate so much, as every journey is painfully unique for each individual.

This grant was much different than any other grant we’ve provided, as when we called, we were informed that Stanislaw had already found peace only days prior, after a battle with brain cancer.

KWF’s team member, Sherri, had made the phone call to provide the grant, and found herself unexpectedly awarding his grant to his wife, who was trying to navigate unknown waters after Stan’s passing.

If the story isn’t painful enough, his wife is also a cancer survivor and is currently going through her own health issues while trying to manage her household, her family and also grieve the loss of her husband.

We awarded this grant in Stan’s honor, because his family still needs and deserves the assistance in any way we can provide it.
