52 | Karen | Breast Cancer

Karen was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer in 2012 and has been battling a fierce fight ever since. Karen is unable to work due to mobility impairment as well as other health issues. She is also the sole full-time caregiver to her 94-year old mother, who is also a breast cancer survivor. Karen and her mother were recently unhoused and had to live in a hotel for quite awhile before finding temporary housing from a friend. She is unable to drive and must rely on others for transportation to receive her chemotherapy treatments. She and her mother struggle to afford basic necessities. KWF team member Sherri had the pleasure of meeting Karen and her mother, as she was able to present her with a financial grant in-person. Sherri has said that although Karen is battling a fierce and challenging fight, she is one of the most positive people I’ve ever met.
