50 | Kowanna | Brain Cancer

Kowanna is a beautiful young woman who is battling brain cancer. Being such a young age, in her early 20’s, her diagnosis has been, not only emotionally difficult, but physically as well. She recently has had to resort to using a wheelchair and has lost vision in her left eye. She is currently living with her mother who is a single mom and accompanies her to every appointment and treatment. Kowanna has a strong support system with not only her mother, but her 3 sisters as well. It’s telling where Kowanna gets her strength from, as her mother is a fierce fighter for her daughter. Her entire family has helped keep her spirits up during her journey, which is so important. Kowanna is currently receiving proton therapy for her cancer.

Kowanna is unable to work due to her diagnosis, and her mother is also unable to work so she can focus on caring for her daughter.

KWF had the pleasure of meeting both Kowanna and her mother as we were able to present her grant in-person at the cancer center. This grant is not only a special one because of how special Kowanna is, but also because this grant marks Kittie’s Warriors 50TH grant since our inception in 2018.

When we met with Kowanna, we told her that she is our ‘GOLDEN GRANT’ and she smiled!

We were honored to be able to provide a financial grant to help Kowanna and her family during this difficult time.
